Birdsview Wins Governors Island Climate Challenge 2025

In a competitive selection process for the Governors Island Climate Challenge 2025, Birdsview was chosen to develop a pilot project on Governors Island, situated south of Manhattan. The initiative focuses on evaluating and extending the operational life of 50 historic military structures using non-destructive, AI-powered scanning technology.
Our technology will play a critical role in helping city planners and preservationists make informed, data-driven decisions that support adaptive reuse and circular construction practices. The project exemplifies how revitalising existing infrastructure can substantially decrease construction waste and advance New York City’s zero waste objectives.
The effort demonstrates the viability of extending building lifespans through innovative assessment methods, supporting sustainability goals within urban development and historic preservation.
